This isn't an ordinary chess set. Each side is an entire little articulated army, with character-filled kings, queens, bishops, knights, and pawns ready to battle across the board.

Most of the pieces articulate and wiggle in your hands, adding a fidget-friendly twist to the classic game. The rooks are castles, so they're the appropriately stoic members of the army.

It's a functional chess set, a collection of articulated figures, and a conversation piece all in one.

The pieces have expressive faces, detailed armor, crowns, weapons, and contrasting colors that give each side its own personality.

Most pieces feature articulated movement, making them especially fun for players who like having something to move or fidget with while thinking through their next turn.

It's also a fun way to introduce chess to a younger player who may find traditional chess pieces a little less exciting.

The board is made from four interlocking sections, making a large board possible without requiring one enormous print. The sections can also be separated for easier storage.

🎨 MAKE THE ARMIES YOUR OWN
One of my favorite parts of making these sets is creating two armies that look completely different from one another.

The sets shown in the photos demonstrate combinations such as:
✔ Gold, red, beige & black
✔ Bronze, dark blue, beige & black
✔ Silver, blue, purple and other combinations

I have many filament colors available beyond the examples shown in the listing photos.

If you have a particular color combination in mind, send me a message or include your preferences with your order. Because several colors can be incorporated into each army, we can create two sides that are easy to distinguish while still fitting the look you want.

🖨️ A SUBSTANTIAL MADE-TO-ORDER PRINT
This is one of the most involved items I make. Producing a complete set requires multiple separate print plates for the different characters, colors, pieces, and board components.

A full set with the board requires at least six separate plated prints before everything is ready for its first match.

Each set is printed by me rather than being a mass-produced chess set pulled from a warehouse.

🏰 THE MODULAR CHESS BOARD

The board is constructed in four interlocking quadrants and features individual contrasting playing squares. The sections fit together to create the full playing surface and can be separated again for storage.

The board itself takes substantial additional print time, which is why the Pieces Only option is also available for buyers who already have a board they'd like to use.

🌱 MATERIAL
The set is 3D printed in PLA. Because these pieces are individually 3D printed, subtle layer lines and small variations are a normal part of the manufacturing process.

⚠️ SAFETY NOTE
Contains small parts and is not intended for children under 3 years old. Adult supervision is recommended for younger players.
